SDC Calls for Unemployed South Africans to Apply for Learnerships
The Skills Development Corporation (SDC) is offering B-BBEE-certified learnerships to unemployed South African youth, providing valuable skills training while helping businesses enhance their Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) scores.
This initiative bridges the gap between corporate skills development requirements and youth unemployment, ensuring that companies meet their B-BBEE compliance while empowering young people with workplace experience and accredited qualifications.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
✅ Race & Citizenship:
Must be a B-BBEE-defined Black person (African, Coloured, or Indian)
Must be a South African citizen
✅ Education & Age:
Must have at least a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
Must be between 18 and 28 years old
✅ Availability & Commitment:
Must be available full-time for a 12-month learnership program
Must attend mandatory practical training sessions
✅ Disability Consideration (if applicable):
Open to both abled individuals and persons with disabilities
Disability Definition: A long-term or recurring physical or mental impairment that limits employment opportunities (as per the Employment Equity Act 55 of 1998)
